1901 and 1911 Census for Duffy Family in Ireland

Note:   Our Great Grandparents' 1901 Irish Census. They lived in Rathlee.
           John signed his name with an  "X" (see right-hand bottom).
           Their niece, Bridget, is Owen & Bridget Duffy's daughter, she is 7 years old at this time.


Note:  Our Great Grandparents' 1911 Irish Census. They lived in Rathlee.
          Their niece, Ellie Claire, is Owen & Bridget Duffy's daughter - she is 12 years old at this time.

Note:  They had 11 children, 8 still alive.


Note:  Our Great Aunt Bridget (John's sister) and Owen Duffys 1911 Census.
          They lived in Galway City, had 10 children, 8 were still alive.
          Their daughter, Bridget, now 17, is back living with them.
          Their 8th living child, Ellie Claire, was living with John & Catherine (Kate) Duffy at this time.  (see Census sheet above).
          Their daughter, Bridget, was the only one of the eight to marry. She married a Harrington, who was a policeman.
          Their son, John J., was a Company Sgt. Major in the British Expeditionary Forces in Flanders in World War I.  His Company was part of a Labor Battalion.

They lived at 40 Eyre Street in Galway City.  This building has since been torn down and another home built in its place (per Patrick Taylor).
