   Per 1910 Census - there were 8 McDevitt children born;  6 were alive in

                                 1910.  The 7th, James, who was the oldest, died in 1909

                                  from a fall down a quarry and, I think, the 8th was

                                 Batnas who died in childbirth-prior to 1900?

 

NOTE on Elizabeth Jones McDevitt's first cousins:

There are two known first cousins of our Grandmom Elizabeth from the Gallagher side of our Great Grandparents --

John Gallagher and Nell (Helen B.) Gallagher Cassidy.  Nell and her husband, Frank Cassidy,

were close friends of our Grandparents, Patrick & Elizabeth McDevitt, and they

visited each other often.  Nell and her husband were the ones who brought 'Chester' Marie

to visit Big Daddy some years after Grandmom's death (they lived in Chester, Pa.).

Following are the details for Nell & Frank and for John:

   Eleven McDevitt family members are buried in a family-sized plot in the

    New Cathedral Cemetery, Section P, Range 6, Lot 45.  There is only a

    small flat stone with Patrick & Elizabeth's names.  It is in the corner of

    the cemetery at Front St. & Nicetown Lane.  The eleven are: 

    Great grandparents Jeremiah & Margaret, Grandparents Patrick &

    Elizabeth, Patrick's brothers James & William, his sister Alice, Alice's

    son Joseph & husband Joseph, Elizabeth's son Frances, and our

    Grandmom's cousin John Gallagher.
